Tips for choosing children's clothing

23 Nov, 2024 3:20pm

Observing appearance: The appearance of children's clothing is the first impression, and choosing clothing that is suitable for the baby's age and temperament is very important. Children's clothing should not only showcase their innocence and cuteness, but also appear fashionable and generous. In addition, pay attention to whether the color of children's clothing is uniform. Clothing with poor color fastness may fade, and dye molecules and heavy metal ions in pigments may be absorbed by the skin, which is harmful to the health of babies.

Smelling clothes: New clothes usually have a smell of washing, which is normal and can be removed after washing. If children's clothing has an odor, it may be due to internal quality issues such as excessive pH value or dye residue. The national standard stipulates that the pH value of children's clothing products should be between 4.0-7.5. Exceeding this range may cause skin inflammation and pose significant harm to the baby's skin.

Understanding fabrics: Choose breathable, heat dissipating, and moisture absorbing pure cotton fabrics to ensure comfortable wearing for babies. Although synthetic fabrics are thin, they have poor breathability and may cause skin allergic reactions. Double layered fabric is a popular choice, with one side made of pure cotton and the other side made of cotton and polyester, possessing the characteristics of inner softness and outer rigidity.

View safety classification: Children's clothing is classified into Class A, Class B, and Class C according to safety technical requirements. Class A is the best, with negligible formaldehyde content, suitable for infants and young children under 3 years old; Class B is second, suitable for close fitting clothing for children aged 3-14 years old; Class C is a basic requirement and is suitable for clothing that does not come into direct contact with the skin.

Pay attention to clothing style and small details: avoid choosing tight pants and clothes with ropes, as these clothes may have an impact on the baby's health. For example, tight pants can compress abdominal organs, affecting digestive function, and poor breathability can easily lead to bacterial growth. Clothes with decorations such as sequins and rhinestones also pose safety hazards as babies may accidentally swallow these small accessories.

Check tags: When purchasing children's clothing, pay attention to checking whether there are relevant labels on the product tags and packaging, including the manufacturer and address, product name, size or specification, fiber composition and content, product standards implemented, and safety category of the product.

By checking the above aspects, parents can help choose children's clothing that is both safe and fashionable.
